Sören L. Schirmer is an ascendant producer and photographer whose work, already prominent in his mid-twenties, reflects a generational shift in classical music.
He has produced audio recordings and films in venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and the Megaron Athens. His backstage and concert photography moves easily between almost legendary figures - including Lang Lang, Anne-Sophie Mutter, and Hélène Grimaud - and a younger generation of artists such as Eva Gevorgyan, Bomsori Kim, and Seong-Jin Cho.
In 2025, he toured Europe with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta and pianist Bruce Liu while filming his documentary On Tour, scheduled for broadcast on Dutch national television. Alongside his film and music video work, he has produced albums for established artists from Europe and abroad. Grounded in his identity as a classically trained cellist, his recording philosophy reflects a musician-first approach; artists often describe his album sessions as oasitic, with time and quality valued over speed.
»Music comes first, everything else follows naturally.«
Sören regularly conducts and directs interviews to help musicians tell their story and reveal their perspective, whether for album or project trailers, documentaries, agencies, or concert films. This focus on the musician’s voice informs every aspect of his work, from interviews to the final mix.
He works with a small, dedicated team for whom a degree in music is the standard. All his work is edited, mixed, and mastered in his own mixing suite, combining technical precision with creative intuition. The space provides an immersive listening experience for his artists, thanks to state-of-the-art audio technology, adaptive ambient lighting, and large-scale screens.
Alongside his production work, he composes music for personal projects and has written scores for award-winning short films by directors from the United States, Sweden, Norway, South Korea and Germany.
